What you'll be doing
An exciting opportunity exists for a trainee to work with The Hospital in the Home. This vocational training Extended Skills post is approved by local Regional Training Providers for General Practice training and for Geriatrics. Hospital in the Homeprovides care in the community for patients who would otherwise be admitted to an acute hospital bed. The service is designed to give patients the choice of care at home rather than as an inpatient, as well as to reduce the length of hospital stay and avoid unnecessary admissions.
Hospital in the Homeprovides an acute treatment service for patients with conditions such as pneumonia, cellulitis and anticoagulation needs, a supported discharge service, a multidisciplinary out-patient facility and management of chronic and complex medical conditions. A patient-centred, evidence-based clinical approach is fostered within the service. This term is offered as a GP Extended Skills, Geriatrics or General Medicine position for 6 months from February to August or August to February. Duties include Clinical assessment and management of patients referred to the Hospital in the HomeService. This will include Home Visits and visits to Residential Aged Care Facilities. Liaison with local General Practitioners is a major part of daily activities and the patient handover is a vital part of the continuum of care. Expectations of the trainee include conducting a quality assurance improvement project during the term, participation in current research and multidisciplinary teaching sessions.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Four years post graduate experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to relevant training program.
- Completed or working towards completion of relevant College Fellowship.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Demonstrated excellent computer and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Commitment to quality assurance and teaching junior staff.

About the Role
Join the Anaesthesia team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and provide safe, high-quality care for patients undergoing complex and emergency surgery. Working closely with Consultants, Nurses, and Allied Health professionals, you will support patients in the Advanced Recovery Room Care (ARRC) and contribute to PARC Clinical Research.
- Deliver safe anaesthetic and peri-operative care
- Review patient care and help strengthen clinical quality
- Contribute to postgraduate and departmental teaching
- Support continuing education across the department
- Develop and conduct anaesthesia research initiatives
- Promote research through PARC Clinical Research

ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:
This role will provide assistance to the Medical Director to ensure effective clinical governance standards and the highest quality of care are provided across the four St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne facilitates.
Key Duties and responsibilities include:
- Supporting the appropriate credentialing of all Accredited Medical Practitioners
- Coordinating the orientation, rosters and other aspects associated with junior medical trainee rotations

What You Bring

- Fellowship or advanced training in Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM or equivalent), or demonstrable progress toward fellowship

Offered at 22 hours per fortnight, this position provides flexibility for a portfolio career, enabling the successful candidate to maintain community practice and other professional interests while contributing to a growing specialist service. Funding is secured for the full term of the appointment through to 30 June 2028, but shorter terms would be considered as would fractional appointments.
About the opportunity
GPs with a Special Interest function as part of a specialty outpatient team, providing consultation, patient review and other agreed clinical activities within their scope of practice. The role supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care while contributing to innovative models that improve access to specialist services.
About the successful candidate
Applicants will bring a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes and a collaborative approach to healthcare delivery, together with:
- Current registration and eligibility to practise in accordance with the role requirements.
- Recent and ongoing experience in community general practice.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary clinical teams and build positive relationships with patients and healthcare colleagues.
- An interest in ADHD care and the ability to contribute to the ongoing development of contemporary, patient-centred outpatient services.

Salary
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $222,789 - $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 - $319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
- Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025
In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year.
- Motor vehicle allowance of $30,254 per annum, pro rata.
- Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of base salary plus on-call, (pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 per annum, pro rata.
- Travel and relocation assistance support may be available.
- Professional development and accelerated pathways.
- A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
- Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $14.50 per week per person, or $28.05 for a family.

Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Holds specialist registration; or
- Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or
- Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
- Current Working with Children Registration.

- Role information: Recent GP and ED experience required. ED skills imperative to role - assessment and management of all triage codes including critical care with support from WNSWLHD v Care team. On-call requirements: You will be the sole Doctor on call 24/7. You will be called for all triage categories at the discretion of the local Registered nurses, vCare or VRGS. Expectation that you review all cases in-person throughout the day. Overnight (from 8pm) you are expected to review Category 1, 2s and 3s in-person. Category 4 and 5s will be escalated directly with you at all hours. — Should a RN require you to attend, you will be required to do so. On-call will also require you to attend inpatients that are deteriorating. Fatigue breaks if required are to be discussed prior to taking any break with the Health Service Manager. Please note support is available via vCare in emergency situations should you require additional support.
- Hours required to be on-site: Daily ward round and at agreed times for clinics if required.
- The Doctor needs to have full billing rights under Medicare
